May I just mention that this is a completely canon site. As of right now, no non-canons are being accepted, so please consult the Canon Character List! Thank you!
Out of Character
1. When you sign up, please register with your character’s first name. The accounts created previously are all exceptions to this rule. After you are accepted, you can then change your username to your character’s first and last name. (i.e. Albus Dumbledore).
2. Each person is allowed no more than three accounts or characters (unless I give you other special permission), due to the fact that we want to keep everyone active. If it gets past three characters it is a little out of hand and trying to post everywhere will no doubt be hectic. Also, make sure your three characters do not interact with each other. For example, no, you cannot be both Narcissa and Lucius Malfoy… First of all, it wouldn’t be fun rp-ing with yourself all the time, and second of all, you’re claiming another character someone else really might want to be.
3. Please be polite to the other people on the board, and do not fight or harass one another. In character conversations are different because we know not all characters get along with one another, but OOC should really be kinder than that.
4. NO SPAMMING! Self explanatory.
5. When writing a post, PLEASE use correct grammar and try to spell check whenever possible. Net speak is absolutely positively not allowed; not only is it hard to read, it’s annoying too. A few spelling mistakes here and there aren’t going to hurt anyone, but if it becomes a problem where people don’t understand your posts then something’s going to have to be done about it.
6. Try to be active! The last thing we want is members signing up just for the heck of it. You don’t have to spend all day on the boards, but try to check in and post whenever you can so that the threads are up to pace. I will not hesitate to archive them. Also, I’m sure people will bug you to post. It’s rather inevitable with this crowd .
7. Try to limit the profanity. This is a PG-13 site so a bit of language here and there is acceptable, just don’t go overboard. If you really must post something you think wouldn’t be appropriate, just put an ‘[R]’ in front of it as a warning. Thank you.
7. Once you register, you must have an avatar and a signature graphic. If you don't want to make one yourself (like me, I get rather lazy at times...) then you can always request one in the graphics thread. I find it helps visualize the characters better!
1. Remain true to your character. It’s one thing to put a bit of liberty into your character and another to change them completely. Remus Lupin would not go out onto the grounds every night and smoke Gillyweed, alright? James Potter and Severus Snape will never be best friends. Don’t change the plot to suit your own emotions, it’s unfair to the rest of the people here.
2. This site is completely canon, so let’s try to keep it that way. There is a lot of freedom in canon because we don’t know a lot of what happened between the lines of the story, so although you must stick to the guidelines, you can have fun with relationships and whatnot.
3. Do not post unless you are accepted! This is fairly easy to understand. I’ll try to accept you as soon as possible so that you can post right away, but your bio really must be finished first.
4. NO ONE-LINERS! If it’s one thing I can’t stand it’s a post that lacks depth. Try to add as much description as possible, bring your character to life. A good three paragraphs would be an ideal length, however I know sometimes it’s hard to post a novel every time. Just put a good amount of effort into your posts.
5. No godmoding or controlling other people’s characters. Just don’t do it.
6. Do not use a celebrity that doesn’t suit your character. Severus Snape was not hot. So do not use someone hot to play him. Thank you!
7. Please do not kill yourself or another character without my permission. This is a canon site, so obviously people are going to die, just shoot me a quick PM when you’re going to do it, or post it in one of the Plot threads.
8. Your character is not perfect. Do not make him/her appear that way. No one (not even James!) is perfect, so do not treat them as such. If you RP well enough, their perfection should be conveyed itself. Don’t keep saying how amazing they are, alright? However, don’t make them always depressed either, that’s just as annoying.
